The NEET-UG 2024 exam
has been a subject of controversy, and the Supreme Court recently addressed
several key points related to it:
1. Counselling Status and Paper
Leak Investigation:
o
The Union Government and the
National Testing Agency (NTA) must decide on the status of counselling.
o
The process of identifying
beneficiaries affected by the paper leak is ongoing.
o
The counselling, initially
scheduled for July 6, has been deferred.
2.
Segregation
of Students:
o
The Court emphasized the need to
segregate students who may have benefited from the leaked question paper from
those who did not.
o
If the paper leak significantly
compromised the exam’s sanctity, a re-test may be necessary.
3.
Disclosure
and Modalities:
o
The Court sought disclosure from
the Union government and NTA regarding modalities between the exam date (May 5)
and the actual counselling process.
o
Specifically, the Court wants
clarity on how the situation will be handled during this interim period.
4.
Preventing
Future Breaches:
o
The Court recommended setting up
a multi-disciplinary team of experts.
o
This team would focus on
ensuring the sanctity of future NEET exams and preventing similar incidents.
o
The team should include experts
with domain knowledge, administration experience, and data analytics expertise.
The matter will be further
considered on July 11 in the case of Vanshika Yadav v.
UOI.
